Reported Abduction Attempt

Sonora, CA — The Tuolumne County Sheriff’s Office is seeking information about a suspicious circumstance.

Sgt. Jeff Wilson says that an adult male was hitchhiking along Stockton Road Tuesday night at 7pm when a white 80’s model Ford Econoline van stopped to pick him up. The hitchhiker believes that he was later drugged by the driver, and that the driver was attempting to abduct him.

Sgt. Wilson says that the victim managed to escape and report the incident. The driver of the van is described as a thin, white male in his 30’s, with a receding hairline and goatee. Sgt. Wilson is asking that anyone with information on this suspect or van contact the Sheriff’s Office at 533-5815.
