Helping Others During Spring Break

Sonora, CA — A group of Tuolumne County students spent Spring Break painting at a school for disabled students in Mexico.

The trip was organized by the 49er Rotary Club. Six Sonora High School Rotary/Interact Club members, and three students from other schools, participated in the 49er/San Felipe Rotary International Service Project. The students worked two days in the hot sun painting railings for wheel chair ramps, classrooms, offices and playground equipment. San Felipe is a poor community, and the work was done in an area where many of the homes do not have running water or electricity.

Students that participated were Sean Adams, Rhiannon Brush, Brandon Borba, Vance Francek, Colton McCurley, Raymond Miller, August Pearson, Ruger Pearson and Samantha Smith. The Rotarians on the trip were Carmen Brush and Kim Stone. Other chaperons included James Brush, Kevin Smith and Greg Francek.
