D.U.I. Driver Sentenced 11 Years

San Andreas, CA – The driver in a fatal July D.U.I. accident has been sentenced to 11 years in state prison.


Matthew Ryan Thein pled guilty to vehicular manslaughter and violation of parole. Thein, who was 21 at the time, crashed head-on with a vehicle on Gold Strike Road in San Andreas on July 28. Two passengers in his vehicle, 50-year-old Michael Thein (father) and 54-year-old Karen Lundy, were killed. Two passengers in the other vehicle, 30-year-old Leah Montoya and her 10-year-old daughter, were injured and required medical attention.


The Calaveras County District Attorney’s Office reports that Thein’s plea agreement came yesterday.
