Safety First This Holiday Weekend

Sacramento, CA — Memorial Day weekend kicks off California’s busiest season for outdoor recreation.

While enjoying the outdoors California State Parks officials encourage visitors to recreate safely and responsibly this weekend and all summer long. The best way to avoid accidents is to plan ahead. Whether biking, hiking, surfing, horseback or train riding, diving, swimming, recreating on a boat or off-highway vehicle (OHV); learning about a park before your visit is crucial say state park officials.

With this year’s recent storms that tip is especially important, due to the large amounts of snow and rain the state has received. Park officials caution that rivers are currently running dangerously cold and fast. They recommending that even experienced swimmers not go into rivers.
