County Waits On AB 890

Sonora, CA — Tuolumne County leaders are waiting for Governor Jerry Brown to make a decision about Assembly Bill 890.

The bill was introduced by Assembly member Kristin Olsen at the request of the county. It would provide a statutory exemption from the California Environmental Quality Act for many minor road safety projects. The Governor has begun the process of signing and vetoing legislation for this past session, but has not taken up AB 890.

The Board of Supervisors voted yesterday to send a letter encouraging his signature. The Governor has until the end of the month to make a decision.
