Post Office Burglary

Sonora, CA — Two people were arrested for allegedly stealing items at a Sonora post office.

The Police Department says earlier this month two thieves took items from some of the postal boxes inside the branch located at 83 S. Stewart Street. Gone missing were items valued over $1,000, including clothes and jewelry. It happened at around 2am. During the investigation, officers identified 19-year-old Cathy Scotland and 19-year-old Loren Martin as suspects.

Last week a ring stolen at the post office was located at a local jewelry store. The ring had been pawned by Cathy Scotland. Officers then arrested both Scotland and Martin, and booked them into Tuolumne County Jail. The two face felony charges related to the burglary.
