Stolen Truck Arrest

A Sonora man is accused of stealing a pickup truck earlier this summer and leaving it down a ravine.

The Sonora Police Department reports that a Toyota truck was taken from an apartment complex on Greenley Road this past June, and a week later it was found by the California Highway Patrol crashed down a ravine. At the time, there were no suspects.

The Police Department reports that as the investigation continued, 22-year-old Leslie Hay emerged as a suspect. The investigating officer contacted Hay in Tuolumne County Jail this week, (He had since been arrested on an unrelated charge) and he admitted that he was involved in stealing the truck. Hay also identified at least one other person that helped carry out the crime.

The Police Department reports that the investigation is ongoing, and additional arrests are anticipated.
