Hot Temperatures And Sierra Thunderstorms

According to the National Weather Service, triple digit heat will continue into next week.

For the next several days, overnight temperatures in the Mother Lode may not fall below 70 degrees.

The highest temperatures in the central valley will range from 105 through 110 degrees.

In the Sierra Nevada, the highs will range from the 80’s through 105 degrees.

Temperatures will lower slightly Sunday through early next week. In the central valley, highs will remain in the triple digits through Tuesday.

Isolated thunderstorms are possible during the afternoon and evenings through Monday in the Sierra Nevada. The best chance of thunderstorms will be on Sunday and Monday.

Gusty winds, brief heavy rain and frequent lightning are possible with the stronger storms.

Fire starts are also possible with these thunderstorms. Dry fuels and frequent lighting are key ingredients for possible fire starts.
