Angels Camp Man Arrested for Manslaughter

Angles Camp, CA — Angels Camp Police Department arrested 39 year old Samual Steele of Angels Camp for Manslaughter in the death of Michael Elliott.

Police say during their investigation they learned that Elliott and Steele had been drinking together at Claussen’s Corner Bar on the night of July 23, 2012.

While inside the bar they got into an argument. It escalated into a physical fight outside of the bar on the 1200 block of S Main Street just before midnight. Police say during the fight Elliott was pushed to the ground by Steele causing him to hit his head. They say Steele then moved Elliott inside of an apartment complex nearby.

An Angels Camp Police Officer was flagged down and called for an ambulance. Elliott was taken to Mark Twain St, Joseph’s Hospital and later air lifted to UC Davis Medical Center. He later succumbed to his injuries and died on July 28, 2012.
