A Drop In Unemployment

Tuolumne County, CA — The unemployment rate dipped down last month both statewide and in the Mother Lode.

The California Employment Development Department reports that the rate in April for Tuolumne County was 12.3%, compared to 13.5% in March. Calaveras County’s rate also decrease to 13.4%, down from14.8%.


Statewide, California’s unemployment rate dropped to 10.9.


Categories that saw an increase in new jobs include professional and business services, trade, transportation, utilities, logging and mining.


Areas that reported a decline include construction, manufacturing, government and information.
