Relay Raises $95,700

Sonora, CA — $95,700 was raised at the Tuolumne County Relay for Life held over the weekend at Sonora High School.

Hundreds paced around the track on Saturday and Sunday to help the American Cancer Society raise money for research, education, and advocacy. The amount raised was slightly less than last year’s $103,000 dollar amount, but organizers note that donations can still come in through August, which will count towards the grand total.

This year’s theme was “International Relay – One World, One Hope.” Event highlights included a moving luminaria ceremony Saturday evening and the closing ceremony on Sunday.

Tents lined the infield of Sonora High School as team leaders and others camped out for the 24 hour event.
