Two Fire Camp Prisoners Injured

Two prisoners at the Vallecito Fire Camp, located on Six Mile Road outside of Angels Camp, were taken to separate hospitals in Modesto to treat what appeared to be stab wounds.

It happened Saturday evening at around 9pm. Officials at the camp say that it is unclear what exactly happened, but confirm that two inmates sustained deep puncture wounds. Broken glass was found in the area. It is under investigation whether glass was used as a weapon.

One inmate was released this morning and has returned to Sierra Conservation Center. The other inmate is still recovering from the injuries.

Both were taken away last night by air ambulances.
