Trash Removed From Highways

You may notice that the highways in the Mother Lode appear a little cleaner this weekend.

Earlier this week Caltrans had its annual Statewide Litter Removal Day. 158 bags of litter and debris were collected in Tuolumne County along Highways 108 and 120. In Calaveras County 110 bags of litter were collected along Highways 12 and 49.

In Calaveras County a community group led by Cathy Davis, and another by the Community Covenant Church, helped with the effort. In Tuolumne County there was a group organized by the Integrated Land Stewardship group.

The event is annually held leading up the Earth Day.
