Library Debuts E-Books

Sonora, CA — The Tuolumne County Library is now allowing residents to check out books without having to step inside the building.

We reported last September that the library would soon start offering an extensive collection of e-books, thanks to a donation from the non-profit “Friends of the Tuolumne County Library.” The library announces that many e-books are now available to download from the library’s website http://www.tuolcolib.org.

The e-books can be checked out online with a valid library card, and they will automatically expire at the end of the borrowing period so that there are no late fees. The books can be read on various devices, like IPADS, Kindles and Sony Readers.

The friends group is donating $10,000 during year one of the e-books program, and $4,000 during each of the following three years. The remaining costs will come out of the library’s book budget, or from donations via service clubs and agencies.
