Berryhill Pushes Pension Reforms

Sacramento, CA — Senator Tom Berryhill is joining fellow Republicans in challenging Democrats to pass pension reform measures mirroring those proposed by Governor Jerry Brown.

Republicans on Wednesday introduced a 12 point pension plan that they say has identical legislative language of the proposal introduced by Brown’s administration during the fall. Thus far it has received a cool response from legislative Democrats.

“The time for action is now,” says Berryhill. “The people of California have long demanded reforms to the out of control pension system.”

The plan would transform the state’s pension system to a hybrid 401K style. It would also increase the retirement age to 67 for new employees. Berryhill’s District 14 includes Tuolumne County.
