CAL Fire Drops Burn Suspension

San Andreas, CA — Thanks to the rainfall, CAL Fire has lifted the burn suspension in Tuolumne and Calaveras Counties.

Burning is once again allowed on “permissive burn days” as determined by the Air Pollution Control District. Burning was allowed earlier this winter, but was then suspended because of the continued dry weather.

Tuolumne-Calaveras Unit CAL Fire Chief Brian Kirk says, “Even if it is a permissive burn day, high, gusty winds are not safe conditions to conduct a burn project. It is critical that the person conducting the burn keep close watch on the fire at all times. If the fire gets away, that person can be held liable for the damage and suppression costs.”

Today is a “permissive burn day.”
