Forum On Economic Development

Sonora, CA — A forum later this month will look at Tuolumne County’s efforts to promote economic development.

Back in 2008, Tuolumne County sponsored a California Association of Local Economic Development (CALED) Forum to help establish a vision for the future. The top priorities were to revitalize the former economic development organization, secure sustainable funding and build community support.

The Tuolumne County Economic Development Authority has agreed to sponsor a 2012 CALED Forum to evaluate how the county has done implementing the 2008 goals, and create new elements to work on in the years to come.

On January 19th, members of CALED will be in Sonora to meet with stakeholders. Then on the 20th there will be a community forum beginning at 9am at the Sonora Oaks Conference Center. The Tuolumne County Supervisors voted Tuesday to have the forum also be a “special meeting” of the Board, so that all five can attend under Brown Act laws.

The January 20th forum is open to the public. The Sonora Area Foundation has approved a grant to fund the event.
