New Cooling Station Information

Sonora, CA — Tuolumne County has updated its plans for the three cooling stations.

Stations will remain operational this Fourth of July from noon-7pm at the Sonora Elementary School gym (830 Greenley Road), Behavioral Health Enrichment Center (101 Hospital Road), and Groveland Library Community Room (18990 Highway 120).

The Tuolumne County Health Department reports that temperatures are expected to average around 105 degrees today in the lower foothills.

A decision about whether to open up the cooling stations on Friday will be made tomorrow, based on the temperature. The heat is expected to be more moderate on Friday, with highs in the mid to upper 90’s.

You can also receive an update on whether the cooling stations are open by calling the county’s Community Information Line at 209-533-6392.
