Public Swim Sunk

San Andreas, CA — The Calaveras Unified School District has cancelled public swim at Calaveras High School due to no life guards on duty this summer.

Calaveras Unified Superintendent of Schools Mark Campbell says there were a couple of factors involved in the closing, “One we weren’t able to secure life guards to effectively and compliantly run the pool. Two, we don’t have the resources to have the sufficient level of management of the summer swim program; so given those two factors we were not able to offer the 1pm – 4pm public swim.” Campbell says all other programs are open for this summer.

You can dive into the pool at the Bret Harte Aquatic Center at 387 Murphys Grade Road in Angels Camp. It is open for public swimming from 1pm to 4pm Mondays through Fridays and 1pm to 5pm Saturdays and Sundays until September 28th. The whole family can take a dip on swim nights from 7pm to 9pm Fridays.
