Gas Prices Up Heading Towards Memorial Day

Sonora, CA — The price for a gallon of regular unleaded gasoline jumped 18 cents statewide over the past two weeks.


In California, the lowest average price for a large city is $3.94 in Fresno, and the highest is $4.07 in San Francisco. The average price statewide is $4.03. The myMotherLode.com gas price section shows that regular unleaded is selling in Sonora from $3.85 to $4.09. In San Andreas, the price is averaging about $3.99.


Nationally, the average price jumped 11 cents over the past two weeks to $3.66 a gallon. The lowest price gas is $3.18 in Tucson, Arizona. The Lundberg Survey of Fuel Prices attributes the price increase to refinery issues in the Midwest and along the West Coast. There are also costs associated with California switching from winter to summer blend fuels.
