Group’s Plan To Unify Tuolumne County Schools

Sonora, CA — There has been a renewed effort recently to discuss whether it would be beneficial to unify the various school districts in Tuolumne County.

This weekend’s Mother Lode Views will focus on a local group’s efforts to unify the county schools into a single district, with one Superintendent and one school board. Guests from the Tuolumne County Committee for the Unification of Resources for Education will include Lane Willey, Dave Munson and Jim Garaventa.

Hear about the steps it would take for a unification to occur, plans for a potential ballot measure, and what the group is hearing from state officials. There was a similar effort to unify the county schools in 1999. The group will talk about what they feel is different this time around.
