11th Annual Copper Chili Cookoff This Saturday

The eleventh annual Copper Chili Cookoff will take place this Saturday from 11 AM through 3 PM at the Copperopolis Town Square.

Linda Stefanick, the Copper Chili Cookoff founder and spokesperson, was Thursday’s KVML “Newsmaker of the Day”.

“We started this when Copper Town Square was brand new and we wanted to have community events”, said Stefanick. “We had invited the Copperopolis Firefighters Association to partner with us and do a Chili Cookoff. It has been a successful event and it continues to remain a great benefit for the Firefighters every year.”

Tickets will go on sale for $15 at 11 AM. They will be sold until 1 PM or until they are all sold out, whichever comes first. Each ticket includes twelve tastings until 3 PM or until the chili is gone, again, whichever comes first.

The chili cookers will include individuals and companies. There are two categories for awards. Peoples Choice and Judges Choice.

In addition to the chili, there will be other vendors, beverages, a 50/50 raffle and live music by the group Universal Exports.

The event will take place rain or shine.
