Economic Heartbreak

Granite Bay – Valentine’s Day may be over, but one group says sweetheart deals for corporations are still costing California. District 4 Congresman Tom McClintock, who represents the Mother Lode, got a different kind of treat on Valentine’s Day. Sierra College students and local activists delivered an over-sized Valentine’s Day card, signed by hundreds of concerned citizens, to McClintock’s district office.

The card called on him to show his love for Northern California by voting for a budget deal that will end sweetheart tax loopholes for corporations, rather than cutting investment in the Northern California economy.

California Fair Share and concerned citizens say with Congress approaching yet another fiscal cliff on March 1st, they wanted to highlight the fact that corporations continue to ship profits and jobs overseas to get out of paying their fair share in taxes. The group claims the State loses $4.2 billion in tax revenues a year and Northern California loses nearly $39.6 million in revenue.
