Fatal Victim Identified

Sonora, CA — The Sonora woman that was killed in a crash yesterday in Oakdale has been identified by the Stanislaus County Coroner.

She is 24-year-old Joy Mata. The CHP says her 1999 Honda drifted into the opposing traffic lane of Orange Blossom Road, and collided head-on with a 2001 Toyota Tacoma driven by 40-year-old Mark Oosterman of Riverbank. Mata was pronounced dead at the scene.

The accident happened at 6:36am. It is not immediately known what led Mata to lose control of her vehicle. An investigation is ongoing.
