Recent Spike In Gas Prices

Sonora, CA — Over the past two weeks, the average price for a gallon of regular unleaded gasoline has increased 10 cents.

Industry Analyst Trilby Lundberg told the Associated Press that the jump follows a rise in crude oil costs. However, the price is still 15-cents below this time one year ago.

The national average is $2.44 a gallon, but it is much higher in California, at $3.27 per gallon. The lowest average price is in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, at $2.03, and the highest is the San Francisco Bay Area, at $3.38.

The myMotherLode.com gas price section notes that regular unleaded is selling in Tuolumne County between $2.85 and $3.23 and in Calaveras County between $2.87 and $2.99.
