Update: Fatal Crash On Highway 120

Update at 1:45 p.m.: The CHP reports to Clarke Broadcasting that one person was confirmed dead at the scene while another was being given CPR and flown to a Modesto hospital.

Update at 1:30 p.m.: The CHP reports that Highway 120 has reopened to traffic. A stretch near Smith Station Road had been shut down after a two vehicle crash. The roadway was closed for about 2 and a half hours while a scene investigation was conducted and to allow tow trucks to remove one of the vehicles that was blocking both lanes.

Original post at 11:22 a.m.: Groveland, CA — The CHP and other emergency responders are on the scene of a fatal collision in southern Tuolumne County on Highway 120 near Smith Station Road.

There are two vehicles involved and both lanes of Highway 120 are currently blocked. One person has been confirmed dead. Traffic is being turned around, so you will want to avoid Highway 120.
