New Details On HWY 49 Vehicle VS Tree Crash

Sonora, CA – The CHP has released new details on Tuesday’s a vehicle versus tree crash that had a Good Samaritan helping an elderly driver while waiting for emergency crews to arrive on scene.

The 81-year-old Columbia woman was driving a 2011 Subaru Forester in the 500 block of the highway near Columbia Way, across from the Arco gas Station on Pesce Way, around 2:40 p.m. when the vehicle went off the roadway and hit a tree, as reported here.

Officers determined that the vehicle was northbound and it is unknown at this time what caused the vehicle to leave the roadway. The elderly driver sustained non-life threatening injuries and was taken from the scene by ambulance to Adventist Health Sonora for treatment. The wreck is under investigation, but drugs or alcohol are not a factor in the crash.
