TCSO Warns About Jury Duty Scam In Tuolumne County

Sonora, CA — The Tuolumne County Sheriff’s Office has received several reports of a scam where someone is calling people claiming to be a law enforcement official.

The person is identifying himself as Captain Mark Bowen from the sheriff’s office and telling residents a warrant for their arrest has been issued for failing to report to Grand Jury Duty. The man says you must turn yourself into the sheriff’s office or purchase a voucher from Safeway to forward as a payment. The number coming up on caller ID has been 209-265-6094. The Sheriff’s Office advises residents to never give out personal information if contacted via phone and call your local law enforcement agency when in doubt if it is a legit phone call.
