One Injured In Early Morning Crash

Coulterville, CA — A rollover crash on Highway 49 in Mariposa County sends a woman to the hospital and blocks the roadway.

The wreck occurred Friday around 4:30 a.m. south of Crown Lead Road in the Coulterville area. CHP reports that 22-year-old Lashawn Nolen II of Groveland was driving a 1992 Mazda Navajo northbound on at about 25-35 mph. Officer Faustino Pulido indicates that for unknown reasons the SUV crossed into the oncoming traffic lane and Nolen swerved back to the right but lost control of the vehicle and smashed into a rocky embankment and overturned twice landing in the roadway.

The lone front seat passenger, 21-year-old Cierra Moranti of Lancaster, California suffered moderate injuries and was taken by ambulance to Doctors Medical Center in Modesto. The wreckage blocked the roadway for a short-time as officers directed traffic slowing down traffic during the morning commute.

Pulido reports neither alcohol nor drugs are suspected to have been a factor in the collision.
