Update: One Mountain Pass Reopened, Another Remains Closed

Update at 2:30 p.m.: Caltrans reports that Highway 108 Sonora Pass is still closed at Kennedy Meadows as road crews work to plow away snow and remove debris on the roadway. However, Yosemite National Park has reopened Highway 120 Tioga Pass this afternoon, which was closed at Crane Flat. Caltrans has not given any estimated time as to when Sonora Pass will reopen. Yesterday’s late afternoon stormy weather did not impact Highway 4 Ebbetts Pass.

Original post at 6:40a.m.: Sonora, CA — Some Sierra Nevada mountain passes are closed due to a storm system that passed through the region late yesterday.

Caltrans reports that Highway 108 Sonora Pass is closed at Kennedy Meadows, and Yosemite National Park notes that Highway 120 Tioga Pass is closed at Crane Flat. It is unclear when they will reopen.

Highway 4 Ebbetts Pass remains open. Temperatures in the lower elevations of the foothills are expected to be in the mid-seventies today and back into the mid-eighties by the weekend.
