Tuolumne Woman Injured In DUI Related Incident

Tuolumne, CA — The California Highway Patrol reports that a Tuolumne woman was seriously injured after being hit by a drunk driver.

It happened at 8:05pm on Monday in a private residential driveway at 19544 Cherokee Road. CHP Officer Faustino Pulido reports that 47-year-old Deann Herzer was “unsafely backing a 2001 Dodge Durango” in the driveway and failed to notice 23-year-old Tahsa Betti standing in the direct path of the vehicle. Herzer’s vehicle struck Betti, causing “major injuries.” Betti was airlifted by helicopter to Doctors Medical Center in Modesto. Herzer, who Officer Pulido says was heavily intoxicated, was arrested on a charge of “DUI causing injuries.” She was booked into Tuolumne County Jail on $10,000 bail.
