New Details In Major Injury Crash Near Columbia

Columbia, CA — The CHP has identified the individuals involved in a motorcycle versus truck wreck in the Yankee Hill area east of Columbia on Tuesday afternoon.

As reported here, a motorcycle and a pickup pulling a camper collided on Lower Quail Mine Road between Rattlesnake Gulch and Glory Gulch roads off Big Hill Road just before 4 p.m. The CHP has identified the driver of the 2005 Kawasaki KLR650 motorcycle as 35-year-old Matthew Eugene Carlile of Columbia. He was taken to Sonora Regional Medical Center suffering major injuries. The driver of the 1985 Toyota SR5 truck, 39-year-old Elvis Brian Babcock of Sonora, was not injured in the accident.

The CHP reports neither drugs nor alcohol played a role in the crash.
