Runner Advocates Against New Taxes For Roads

Sonora, CA — The Mother Lode region’s Board of Equalization (BOE) member is arguing against the direction of Governor Jerry Brown when it comes to funding road repairs.

It’s the topic of a new myMotherLode.com blog authored by BOE representative George Runner. He argues against the idea of increasing the gas tax and vehicle licensing fees, which has been proposed by the Governor, to fund road repairs. Some of Runner’s ideas are to audit the California Department of Transportation in hopes of finding savings, and to utilize cap-and-trade revenue to tackle maintenance needs.
