Update: Sonora Roadway Reopens After Pile Up

Update at 4:30 p.m.: The CHP reports the roadway has reopened and traffic is moving freely.

Original post at 4:15 p.m.: Sonora, CA — Emergency crews are on the scene of a three-vehicle crash in the Sonora area that has halted traffic during the evening commute.

The CHP reports the pile up happened just before 4 p.m. on Tuolumne Road at the Morris Road intersection. The three vehicles collided and the impact from the crash sent one vehicle smashing through a fence. The CHP reports the roadway has been closed in both directions as tow crews work on removing the wreckage. Officers are detouring traffic along Morris Road.

One person was taken by ambulance to Sonora Regional Medical Center with minor injuries.
