Strawberry, CA – No bumpy road here, Caltrans has recently completed a $2 million pavement preservation project on Highway 108 in Tuolumne County making for travelers’ smooth sailing.
Crews conducting a maintenance overlay project paved over 14 miles of roadway in the Strawberry area. Caltrans spokesperson Rick Estrada indicates that this paving can extend the roadway’s surface life for three to five years. He also notes, “One of the benefits for Caltrans, travelers and businesses up on the hills is that if 108 is a smoother, better ride, that is certainly going to entice more people to go up there. The more people go up the hill the better it is for the economy up there and we appreciated that.”
