A Crash Knocks Out Power In West Point

West Point, CA – A crash in West Point resulted in a driver being arrested for DUI and residents in the area left in the dark.

The wreck happened just before 8 p.m. on Monday along Highway 26 east of Bucksaw Lane. The CHP reports that Frank Kincaid, 62, of West Point was driving a 2011 Hyundai about 50 mph westbound when due to his intoxication he drove into the oncoming lane and off the roadway. The vehicle hit a speed limit sign and then smashed into a power pole bringing it down, which caused an outage in the area. The vehicle finally came to rest next to a tree. Kincaid suffered minor injuries and was taken into custody.

It took a PG&E crew several hours to repair the pole. The highway was shut down while the actual pole was replaced.
