Brown Chooses Side In Democratic Primary

Sacramento, CA — One week before the June Primary election, California Governor Jerry Brown has endorsed a candidate in the race between Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders.

It is a high profile endorsement in a race that has been tightening over recent weeks. A Public Policy Institute of California poll released last week showed that Clinton leads Sanders 46%-44% among likely state voters. Brown’s letter to supporters, announcing the endorsement, praised both candidates. However, he said, “I have decided to cast my vote for Hillary Clinton because I believe this is the only path forward to the presidency and stop the dangerous candidacy of Donald Trump.”

Up to this point, Brown had dodged questions about which candidate he preferred.

The letter adds, “If Clinton were to win only 10-percent of the remaining delegates-wildly improbable-she would still exceed the number needed for the nomination. In other words, Clinton’s lead is insurmountable and Democrats have shown-by millions of votes-that they want her as their nominee.”

As reported previously, Republican Donald Trump has picked up notable endorsements in the state from Congressmen Kevin McCarthy and Darrel Issa and former US Representatives Duncan Hunter and Doug Ose.
