The Tuolumne County Sheriff’s Office is investigating an incident from over the weekend where a nine-year-old girl reported that she was assaulted by an unknown male.

The Sheriff’s Office reports that it happened at 3:35pm on Saturday at the Indigeny Reserve on Summers Lane. Deputy Rob Lyons says the nine-year-old girl went into a corn maze with a group of friends. At one point an unknown male, described as being in his mid-to-late teens, allegedly put his hand over her mouth and tried to stop her. In order to break free, she bit him. The Sheriff’s Office reports that it is unclear what the suspect’s intentions could have been. An investigation is ongoing. Sgt. Lyons says the suspect is described as being 5’6”, with darker skin, possibly Hispanic, and was believed to be driving a dark gray Chevy Silverado. Anyone with information should contact the Sheriff’s Office at 533-5815.
