Sonora, CA — Gold Rush Charter School had a scare late this afternoon.

Principal Ron Hamilton confirms that some gunshots were heard near campus at around 4:30pm.  The students that were on hand for PM Club, and staff members, were placed on lockdown status. The Sheriff’s Office responded and later deemed the area safe. There was a man nearby that was reportedly questioned and arrested on an unrelated charge. Where the shots originated is not immediately clear. No further information is immediately available through the Sheriff’s Office.
