Wrapping Up Washington Street Repaving

Sonora, CA – Downtown Sonora residents have reason to cheer, not only that construction on Washington Street will finish early, but also their serene summer nights will return.

“The last of the jackhammering you’ll hear will be this Sunday night,” explains city engineer, Jerry Fuccillo. He adds, “They [crews] will be completing all the raising of all the man holes and valve boxes to the grade and begin the lay out of the striping.”

On Monday, crews will do patch work along the roadway with final paving to come on Tuesday and Wednesday, according to Fuccillo, who adds, “I anticipate that Wednesday they will be finished. It could go on to Thursday, but I think it will be Wednesday night.”Signs up along the construction route had indicated a completion date of July 24.

The work will run overnight from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. each of those nights. Areas within the work zone are along South Washington Street as follows: from Stockton Street to 1,000 feet south of Hospital Road; Restano Way; Stewart Street from Restano Way to Lytton Street; and Mono Way from Restano Way to about 600 feet east.
