Info Sought In High Speed Motorcycle Chase

Angels Camp, CA — Deputies from the Calaveras Sheriff’s Department and officers from the California Highway Patrol were requested to assist in a high speed chase this weekend. The chase was ended near the county line, on Obyrnes Ferry Road at the Poker Flat subdivision entrance, in the interest of public safety.

The incident happened on Saturday, June 13th at 3:50 PM, an officer from the Angels Camp Police Department was on patrol in the area of Hwy 4 and Angels Oaks Road. A black Kawasaki motorcycle with no visible license plate nearly collided with the officer’s patrol vehicle. The motorcycle was traveling west on Hwy 4 passing several vehicles over the solid double yellow lines at an estimated 80 mph.  The officer activated his emergency lights and siren but the driver did not yield and continued to drive erratically westbound on Hwy 4 to Obyrnes Ferry Road in Copperopolis.

The driver of the motorcycle was described as a Hispanic male adult, wearing a white helmet, black leather vest, and dark green shorts.

Anyone with information as to the identity of the driver of the motorcycles is asked to contact the Angels Camp Police Department.
