DUI Driver Faces Murder Charges

Sonora, CA — The driver arrested for being under the influence of drugs and causing a fatal crash Tuesday on Highway 108 now faces murder charges.

The Tuolumne County District Attorney Laura Krieg’s Office has this statement regarding the charges:

“The Tuolumne County District Attorney’s Office  has filed a Second Degree Murder Charge against Brenda Barrera for her actions that resulted in the death of Maxsimiano Aldana. Mr. Aldana was killed on April 21, 2015 after the vehicle Barrera was driving struck Aldana’s vehicle on Highway 108 west of O’Byrnes Ferry Road. In addition to the Second Degree Murder Charge, Barrera is also charged with Gross Vehicular Manslaughter, and Driving Under the Influence causing great bodily injury to 3 additional victims. Barrera was arraigned on April 23, 2015 in Tuolumne County Superior Court. Bail has been set at One Million Dollars.”
