Brown Receiving Input On Water Restrictions

Sacramento, CA — Governor Jerry Brown hosted a meeting yesterday with representatives from industries such as landscaping, building, manufacturing, retail, restaurants, and hospitality.

The purpose was to discuss efforts to conserve water, in relation to the new 25% reduction mandate. Brown said, “We’re going to rise to the occasion as Californians first and as members of different groups second.”

The Governor held a press conference immediately afterwards. It was noted that the State Water Board has received 200 letters from water agencies that are impacted by the reduction mandate, and many are requesting leniency. Some agencies are required to meet even higher reduction targets, based on their water use last year. Agencies in violation could be fined up to $10,000 a day. Brown indicated there are no plans to change course.
