Measles Outbreak Coming To End?

Sacramento, CA — Tomorrow California health officials are planning to declare that the measles outbreak is over.

That is if no new cases are reported today. The measles outbreak was linked to Disneyland theme park and resorts in early December, and impacted 131 Californians. It also spread to several other states and countries. The issue prompted proposed legislation in California calling for stricter rules requiring vaccinations of school children, and that matter is still being debated in Sacramento. Many of those that contracted measles had not been vaccinated. The outbreak is considered over after 42 days have passed since the onset of the last case.
