Third Arrest In Valley Springs Attack

Valley Springs, CA — A third suspect has been arrested in connection to the recent assault in Valley Springs involving a baseball bat.

We reported previously that an unidentified 59-year-old man was stopped in his vehicle last weekend in the 300 block of Paloma Road, and attacked with a baseball bat near a residence. Arrested in connection were 43-year-old Jeffrey Scott Newby and 18-year-old Mike Patrick Newby. Further investigation has now led to the arrest of 42-year-old Ayako Newby, for having some type of involvement. She has also been booked into Calaveras County Jail on $1-million bail.

The Sheriff’s Office is being tight lipped about the possible motive behind the attack. Sgt. Anthony Eberhardt says that the investigation is ongoing.
