Champions In Straight Sets

The Sonora High School girls volleyball team are the champions!  The Wildcats won their second straight Division-IV Sac-Joaquin Section title last night.

The team took on Hilmar for a rematch of last year’s title match that the Wildcats won in five sets.  Last night, Sonora hit the UC Davis courts and spiked its way to a straight set, 3 to 0, victory.

Coach Kim Evans has this say about her team, “This team’s strength is definitely team.  There’s no individuals that stand out.  When one might falter you have five others that can step right in.”  Seven of the players are senior so Coach Evans acknowledges next year will be a “rebuilding year” for the team.

The Wildcats will now move on to the California Interscholastic Federation (CIF) state finals.
