Angels Camp, CA – The Calaveras County Coroner has released the name of the 18-year-old killed Thursday in a two-vehicle crash on Highway 4 east of Stallion Way.

The teen has been identified as Jon Paul Carrero of Copperopolis.  The CHP reports he died after the 2000 Dodge Stratus he was driving swerved sideways into oncoming traffic and for unknown reasons.  The driver of a 2003 Buick Park Avenue, 52-year-old Michael Darby of Angels Camp, was unable to avoid hitting the passenger side of Carrero’s car.  Both Darby and his passenger, 55-year-old Linda Darby, suffered major injuries in the crash and Linda was flown to a hospital in Modesto.

The crash happened at 4:15 p. m. west of Angels Camp.  The CHP reports drugs or alcohol were not  a factor in the crash.
