Gun Range On Agenda

Sonora, CA — The Tuolumne County Supervisors are tentatively scheduled to continue a public hearing regarding a gun range in La Grange.

As reported previously, the range had been operational, and utilized as a weapons training school, but the owners did not have the proper county permits. The owners have been trying to correct this matter, but there has been some opposition to the range by some neighboring residents.

The applicants for a Conditional Use Permit are Blind Bull, LP. & Timothy & Joan Diestel.

County staff members will recommend tomorrow that the public hearing be postponed further, until mid-January, so that both sides can continue to try to work out any differences.

In addition, the county will vote Tuesday whether to approve a stipulation reduced assessment for Mountain Springs Development, LLC. from $2.56 million down to $1.175 million.

The Board will also decide whether to seek $130K from a Fire Prevention Grant Fund program. Tuesday’s meeting starts at 9am.
