Drive-by Shooting

Burson, CA – Calaveras County Sheriff’s Detectives are looking for a suspect in a drive-by shooting on Highway 12 near Burson Road.

Investigators say a 21-year-old man was reportedly walking on the shoulder of the highway around 12:45 p.m. when he was shot as a truck drove past him.  Deputies responded to a doctor’s office in the Valley Oaks Center where the man was being treated for a single gunshot wound.  The victim was later flown to a valley hospital for further treatment of his injuries.

Detectives says the victim believes the gun shot came from a black Ford pickup.  However, investigators say there are conflicting reports of the incident by the victim and witnesses.  The investigation into the shooting is ongoing.  If you have any information regarding it, call the sheriff’s department.
