Bones Found in Tuolumne City

Sonora, CA — The Tuolumne County Sheriff’s Department reports that bones have been found in Tuolumne City.  The Sheriff’s Department was alerted to the bones by a tip.  This afternoon investigators taped off the property across from the Tuolumne City fire Station on Main Street.  Sgt. Scott Johnson says “The responding deputies did located three small bones. We could’t determine at that time if they were animal or human so our deputies called our detective division who collected the bones are going to send them out for analysis.”

Johnson says the bones will go to the Department of Justice forensic lab. He says it could take several weeks for the results to come back. There is a boarded up home on the property, but Johnson did not know if the bones were found in the home or left on the ground.
